Let’s do some experimenting with fruit and vegetable stamping!
Dear friends of Your Colourful Mind,
Our recently presented stamping project (see post No 53) was a good example of nature printing, showing how easy (and cheap) it is to take what we find around us and use it as fabric painting tools.
The latest fabric painting design contribution from Jaypi (post No 49) also used nature as a supplier of design ideas and tools: she cut an apple to create a colourful stamping design.
Which other fruits or vegetable can we use as fabric painting stamps?
I very much liked Jaypi’s apple-design and felt motivated to experiment with other fruits and vegetables.
These are the objects I found in the fridge:
As I didn’t feel confident about their usability as stamps, I tried printing with each of my potential natural stamps on a paper towel.
I found that stamping with oranges or lemons doesn’t work out properly, it seems that these fruits contain too much water. Printing with them doesn’t deliver clear and strong results.
But the other fruits and veggies worked well!
I finished my fruit stamping with some apple-work. 🙂
It was such a great fun, – looking around the kitchen for suitable fabric painting stamps and then experimenting with them!
I will definitely continue trying to find unusual but effectual stamps, at home, or in the garden, or wherever! 🙂
